    PRODUCT REVIEW

Similac Isomil DF is designed to for the management of diarrhea in both infants and toddlers of ages 6 months and older. On the other hand never use this product on infants or children who tend to have constipation. You will end up having serious trouble. This formula is fortified with loads of iron that is designed to control diarrhea. While supplements such as Pedialyte are often recommended for babies who potentially develop diarrhea, in order to help replace lost fluids and electrolytes, there is now this special infant formula that addresses the nutritional needs of older infants and toddlers who have this rather common gastrointestinal problem. While this cannot replace Breast Milk, this could be used as a supplement since it provides adequate amount of calories, fat, protein, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals.

Similac claims that it is also effective for infants and toddlers who experience diarrhea during oral antibiotic treatment. This formula is also soy based and lactose-free, since some children are known to develop allergies for lactose based formulas. This especially helpful, if your child is allergic to lactose based formulas and has diarrhea and you want to control it without worrying about side effects.

This is available in Ready-to-Feed form and there is no need to mix with water and shake and go through the process of preparation. But keep in mind, since this is a pre-prepared formula, you must keep it refrigerated after opening and use it within 48 hours. Also, as with other formulas, always use it before the expiration date mentioned on the can. You do not want to take chances on your baby especially since all kinds of artificial ingredients are already added on formulas.

As far as the cost, this formula is quite expensive. Please check out our price section to compare prices and ideas on where to buy. Overall we like this product since it solves a special purpose and at the same time it can be given to babies that are allergic to lactose and it is available widely.
